Visiting the Musuem

Public Show

COVID-19 Update
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve decided to cancel the Holiday Show for the 2020-21 season.  More information can be found on our Holiday Show page.

The Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum’s “Railroad Journey in Miniature” is only open to the public during the Annual Holiday Train Show (Mid-November though Mid-January).  During the show, the museum is open on Friday nights from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with extended hours on “Black Friday” and between Christmas and New Years.  The Museum is closed for Christmas and New Year’s day.  Requested donations are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

The Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum is located in Gibsonia, PA (Northern Suburbs of Pittsburgh).  Located off Rt 910, we are minutes from the PA Turnpike, Route 8 and McKnight Rd (Route 19).  Detailed in directions are available.

Snack Bar

Watching our trains can be hungry work!  The Museum’s snack bar offers a number of delicious items for lunch or dinner including hot dogs, nachos, and selected sandwiches, and pizza.  Looking for something smaller, there is a variety of chips, pretzels and candy bars, along with a number of refreshing beverages.

Gift Shop

The gift shop is located in a red caboose complete with grab irons and signal lanterns. The gift shop houses a wide variety of books, videos, T-shirts, railroad related games and souvenirs.  We are also proud to sell items from the popular children’s shows “Thomas and Friends” and “Chuggington”.  Additionally, there are a number of items of interest to model railroaders including, NMRA gauges and cars made specifically for the WPMRM.
